About this service
External wall insulation is a layered system fixed to the outside of your building. Insulation boards (EPS, mineral wool or phenolic) are bonded and mechanically fixed to the wall, then covered with a reinforcement mesh embedded in base coat adhesive, and finished with a coloured render – typically silicone or mineral.
The result is a continuous insulated envelope around your home or building. Heat stays in. Cold, rain and noise stay out. And the property gets a clean modern finish in one go.

For solid-wall properties – which are most pre-1930s UK homes – EWI is one of the highest-impact upgrades you can make. It reduces heat loss through the walls, makes rooms feel warmer, and refreshes the look of the building. Cavity-wall homes benefit too where the cavity can't be filled or where extra performance is needed.
Most residential EWI uses 90–150mm boards depending on the wall type and target performance. Where space is tight we can use slim-line phenolic boards. We'll recommend the right thickness in the quote.
Yes, with the right products and weather windows. Render needs temperatures above roughly 5°C to cure properly, so we schedule render days around the forecast and use frost-tolerant systems where appropriate.
Yes. We arrange and manage scaffolding as part of the project, so you only deal with one contractor.
Window reveals get slightly deeper because the wall is thicker. We detail beads, sills and reveals carefully so the finish looks clean and intentional, not bulky.
